With the recent world events going on such as the Covid-19 outbreak, it can be hard to avoid feelings of stress and not get overwhelmed. It is important that during these more stressful times you are taking time for self-care and implementing mental-health checks for yourself, family, and friends. StrongBody trainer and Yogi, Alex Kierdorf-Robinson has given us 5 ways to help you deal with stress.
5 ways to deal with stress:
▫️ Exercise! Physical activity has been proven again and again to have amazing effects on the physical and mental issues caused by stress
▫️ Avoid caffeine… Coffee is a stimulant that will only make you feel more worked up
▫️ Get more sleep – During sleep, your body repairs, and restores… Also, lack of sleep is a significant cause of stress!
▫️ Use relaxation techniques… Whether that’s yoga, prayer, meditation, using an app for mindfulness… Do what grounds and centers you. If you find that your sleep is impaired due to stress, try incorporating relaxation techniques into your bedtime routine
▫️ Manage your time. Multi-tasking doesn’t exist and no one’s brain can actually be focused on two things at a time whilst doing both things well. So do one thing at a time and plan your days well.
It is important to remind yourself that you are not the only one feeling a little more sensitive during these stressful times and it’s okay that you are not feeling your best 100% of the time. The most important thing is that you are taking the right measures to deal with these feelings in an appropriate manner. Remember, it’s not about how many times you fall down but how many times you get back up!
