The Settling

It’s all around us. People are settling for a comfortable schedule, a comfortable gym routine, a comfortable job, a comfortable relationship, a comfortable non-knowingness… Because comfortable is, well, comfortable ☺️

Stepping out of the comfort zone, on the other hand, requires hard work, sweat, mental challenge, going out-of-your-way to achieve something.
Not allowing yourself to settle is difficult… But man, it’s worth it! The result is a passion, ignition, the energy to go to bed late, to wake up early, the inner drive that keeps you going on and on, and a whole new level of fierceness and enjoyment of the journey!

I think we’re all guilty of settling in some areas of life at certain times… The days, weeks, months go by and we are comfortable, yet not quite fulfilled. It seems we’ve settled.

Ask yourself:

  • Where do you need to make a change next week?
  • Have you been doing the same gym routine 3 days a week this whole year – at the start you were getting good results but now you seemed to have plateaued?
  • Have you been doing the same work for the same boss who doesn’t appreciate you for the last five years because it gives you an income and you get your weekends off but no fulfillment?
  • Have you been having big Saturday nights with the same mates at the same clubs every weekend and regret it every Sunday?

We all have our own story, but it’s what you do with your story and how you create the next chapter that matters.

Perhaps this means it’s time to make a change! Go try out the new gym class you noticed through the studio window! Become an instructor! Join a 12-week challenge! Connect with that Personal Trainer! Start applying for new jobs! Sign up for a course in something you know absolutely nothing about! Head out to the movies, a concert, a screenplay instead of the clubs next weekend!
